The most convenient means to pay your bill is by cash (yen) or major credit cards such as VISA and MasterCard. Small stores, however, seldom honor credit cards. As stores normally do not honor traveler's checks nor non-Japanese currencies, it would be wise to have a substantial amount of yen for daily expenditures ready when you have cleared customs.
